Officers were still visible on-site at the start of this week, and police said there were no updates to provide as of Tuesday morning.
Teak Construction, based in Auckland, was leading the project to build a large Kennards Self Storage facility at the site.
However, Teak Construction went into liquidation at the start of this month.
Neighbouring businesses say the site was bustling with workers until the liquidation, but work on the site had since gone quiet.
The development includes half-completed buildings wrapped in white plastic, including a main two-storey building.
