Whangārei resident Tony Smith, who has a Honda Jazz hybrid with a five-year warranty, said news of the closure “came as a bit of a shock”.
Smith visited the store on Dent St last weekend, only to find a closure sign on the door.
“There were a few angry people there while I was there.
“I bought my car three years ago and had a Honda before that.
“The owners gave me good service, they had good salespeople there.
“It’s a sign of the times.”
Smith said although his next service wasn’t due until October, he has since been reassured by the company via two emails.
One email, seen by the Northern Advocate, pointed to authorised Honda service centres in Kerikeri and Auckland.
