The manufacturer of the base formula used by 20 sunscreens pulled from sale for failing to meet their SPF claims is being sued for “misleading” and “deceptive” conduct.
High-profile brand Ultra Violette is seeking millions of dollars from Wild Child Laboratories, following the recall of one of its signature SPF50+ sunscreens last year in the wake of testing by consumer group Choice showing an SPF of just four.
But the status of the litigation is uncertain after Wild Child went into voluntary liquidation in August.
In the month before the liquidation, Wild Child sold its assets to a new company that shares the same CEO and director, which is now continuing the company’s sunscreen manufacturing business under the name Heliora.
