One of the joint venture partners chosen to build Perth’s new maternity hospital has entered voluntary administration after months of uncertainty, but the Western Australian government is adamant the project remains on track.

Global management firm FTI Consulting has been appointed to examine the financial position of builder Roberts Co and its parent entity, RCAH Group.

Roberts Co was chosen alongside European construction giant Webuild as joint venture partners for the hospital in December 2024, tasked with building a replacement for the ageing King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

Rs 510 crore setback for BluSmart parent Gensol Engineering! What happened now – IREDA connection?

IREDA-Gensol Engineering insolvency, bankruptcy plea: In just a month of capital market regulator SEBI’s interim order against Gensol Engineering , a lot has happened at and with the BluSmart parent. From high-level resignations to lawsuits, it has been a rather tumultuous month for the company.

Economic uncertainty often acts as a stress test for Canadian businesses. For some, it reveals opportunities to adapt and grow stronger. For others, it exposes vulnerabilities that were previously manageable in better times. For those on the edge, it can accelerate financial decline — especially when business leaders wait too long to respond.

Insolvency isn’t a failure of effort. It reflects how quickly a business can adapt to changing conditions. In a high-interest, post-pandemic economy, that ability is being tested daily.

When financial pressure mounts

One of the first red flags in a tightening economy is a squeeze on cash flow. Rising costs and slower sales can quickly outpace incoming revenue for businesses carrying…

If you’re deep in debt — or concerned that lingering inflation, the U.S. trade war or a potential recession could land you there — you might not be looking to Washington, D.C., for help. Turn on the news, and it’s hard to see anyone agreeing on anything, let alone substantive consumer debt solutions.

And yet, there might be more common ground than you think.

Bankrate requested interviews from 17 members of Congress, including those who serve on the House’s Committees on Education & Workforce and Financial Services as well as the Senate’s Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. These efforts led to separate interviews with two House members from different coasts and political parties: 18-term Rep. Maxine Waters…

LANSING, MI — A Lapeer County man couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he scratched off a winning 20X Wild Time instant ticket worth $300,000.

“I always play the 20X Wild Time game because I like that I can scan the non-winning tickets for a second chance,” said the 58-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I bought a few of these tickets and scratched them late at night. When I saw I had won $300,000, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so I handed it to my wife and asked her to scan it on the Lottery app.

“When $300,000 came up on the screen I jumped up and started shouting! Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep that night. Winning is life-changing and will allow us to live debt free.”

The winner…

FSU is among the Top 12 public research universities when it comes to low student debt, and the university has set its sights on becoming the best public research university in the country for graduating students with little or no debt. Financial literacy education through programs like Unconquered by Debt are an important step toward achieving that goal.

“We are proud to support programs that support our students holistically,” said Provost Jim Clark. “Providing students with access to financial wellness resources allows them to better focus on their education while taking that financial knowledge with them into their lives and careers beyond FSU.”

UBD workshops focus on topics such as career options, earning, spending, saving,…
