ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated his unwavering dedication to providing Pakistan with debt relief and economic stability, emphasizing his readiness to devote his life to this critical mission. ARY News reported on Thursday.

During an event in Islamabad, the Prime Minister highlighted the troubling rise in national debt over the past 77 years, emphasizing that meaningful progress cannot be achieved through borrowing alone.

Shahbaz Sharif stated that while IMF programs contribute to economic stability, they should only serve as short-term measures.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about the nation’s economic progress, noting that Pakistan is on the path to economic stability.

TORONTO — Canada’s oldest company, Hudson’s Bay, may be on the verge of landing more time to save the six stores it has temporarily been able to rescue from liquidation.

An Ontario court has spent the last two days hearing from lawyers about a proposed restructuring that could help the beleaguered department store find a way forward, but would also put a timeline on how long it has before it will have to sell off the remaining stores.

Ontario Superior Court Judge Peter Osborne adjourned the hearing mid-morning Thursday, promising to make a decision on the agreement later that day or early the next.

When Hudson’s Bay first started floating the agreement, it came with a deadline forcing liquidation of the surviving six…

TORONTO — One of Hudson’s Bay’s lenders says it’s willing to back changes to a restructuring agreement that would give the retailer more time to find a way to save six six stores it has so far spared from liquidation.

A lawyer for Restore Capital LLC says his client is open to revising a deadline that would force the ailing department store to start liquidating its six surviving stores on April 8, if it hasn’t found a likely transaction to give it a way forward by the day before.

Linc Rogers says Restore is willing to give Hudson’s Bay until April 30 because he wants to resolve some of the disagreement that has sprung up in court.

Landlords have opposed the agreement, saying its early April deadline conflicts with another…

Canada Jetlines has entered the first stage of a restructuring process under Canada’s Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA), less than a week after ceasing operations due to a lack of financing.

A notice of intention under the BIA permits Canada Jetlines to pursue a restructuring of its affairs and has the effect of imposing an automatic stay of proceedings, the airline said in a statement

This will protect the company and its assets from claims and enforcement proceedings from creditors and “contractual counterparties,” the airline said.

The initial stay period is 30 days, but it may be extended by court order, per the statement.

Canada Jetlines, a self-described leisure carrier that began as a low-cost…

City officials are hoping the bankruptcy process would give the city more control over payment of a $22 million judgment it now owes to City Heights Holdings, LLC.

CLE ELUM, Wash. — The Cle Elum City Council approved a resolution at a Tuesday night meeting that allows the city to file for bankruptcy in the aftermath of an expensive ruling resulting from a development dispute.

Back in November, a King County judge ruled the city owed City Heights Holdings, LLC, (CHH) more than $22 million over delays in a development project that had been agreed to more than a decade prior. Cle Elum, which has a 2025 budget of $5 million, cannot afford the payment, rendering the city…
