Rewilded Bison - Romania?s Tarcu mountains Daniel M?rlea Fee agreed

In the Țarcu mountains of Romania, a pioneering experiment is changing the atmosphere around rewilding. Starting in 2014, around 100 European bison were gradually reintroduced to the area, having been wiped out by hunting more than 200 years ago. They now number more than 170 and graze over some 48 square kilometres. That is a success story in itself. But there is more to this project than just bringing back the big beasts. Their domain has also become a carbon hoover, sucking an estimated 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide out of the air every year, equivalent to taking 43,000 petrol cars off the road.

The bison themselves aren’t a significant carbon sink. It is their influence on the wider environment –…

Chaos has almost derailed Chris Eubank Jr.’s hyped April 26, 2025, bout with Conor Benn. A fight, reviving their father’s legendary rivalry, was supposed to be a defining moment of the duo’s career. However, in an attempt to sell the fight during the press conference, Benn flipped the script, alleging Eubank owes Neymar Jr. £4 million in poker debts from high-stakes games.

‘The Destroyer’ then further ridiculed the significance of the fight himself, claiming that it was just a pay grab for Eubank. Despite the IBO Middleweight champion dismissing it as “lies” on ‘X,’ the narrative has stuck. A subsequent brawl sparked by Eubank Jr. smashing an egg on Benn’s face only fueled the chaos further when the BBBoC fined…

Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court (FHC), has established an Insolvency Unit to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery within the court.

Sulaiman Hassan, the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court (FHC), announced the establishment of an Insolvency Unit in a statement issued on Sunday night in Abuja.

According to Hassan, the unit was created by the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, the amended Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Act 2019, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) Act 2024, and the Bankruptcy Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010.

(Bloomberg) — 23andMe Holding Co. filed bankruptcy after it was unable to find a buyer to rescue it from insolvency proceedings and the board of directors rejected a buyout offer from co-founder Anne Wojcicki.

The Silicon Valley-based firm will continue marketing itself to investors with the goal of getting at least one binding offer by May 7, according to court papers. That deadline was set by lenders, who are seeking court permission to loan 23andMe as much as $35 million to fund its bankruptcy.

The Chapter 11 filing in St. Louis will also resolve its legal troubles related to a data breach, according to a statement. That hack compromised information on millions of people and gave a hacker direct access to about 14,000 user…

The former star of Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins and his wife Emilie were the directors of Sway and Starting Limited before it went into liquidation at the end of 2022.

The Government’s Insolvency Service found that the couple were taking millions of pounds out of the company at the same time that taxes were not being paid.

Some £385,000 in VAT and £869,000 in corporation tax was owed between 2019 and 2022.

But the pair had taken out about £3 million from the company in the form of a directors’ loan by the time it went into liquidation at the end of 2022, the service said.

Sway and Starting, which was described as offering media representation services, was set up to manage income from Middleton’s television and media…

Two former senior figures at bankrupt Woking council are to be investigated by the UK’s accounting watchdog after it racked up more than £2bn in debt on a failed investment spree.

The Surrey council declared itself effectively bankrupt in 2023 after ploughing vast sums of borrowed money into skyscrapers, a luxury hotel and other risky commercial investments, in what was one of the biggest financial failures in local government history.

Sources said an investigation into the individuals involved in the former Conservative-run council’s investment activities was being prepared by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the independent regulator that oversees the UK accountancy profession.

The watchdog is expected not to name the…

Canada’s oldest company will begin liquidating most of its stores this morning.

Hudson’s Bay says all but six of its locations will be selling off their inventory.

The company is aiming to wrap up the liquidation by June 15. Gift cards will be accepted until April 6, but loyalty points cannot be used.

The remaining three span downtown Montreal, the Carrefour Laval Mall, and Point-Claire, Que.

Canada’s oldest company has begun selling the inventory at nearly all its stores as it continues to hold out hope for a last-minute option to restructure.

The move comes after an Ontario court on Friday gave Hudson’s Bay permission to proceed with a revised liquidation plan, which will temporarily exclude six stores from the initial list. The company operates 80 Hudson’s Bay stores and, through a licensing agreement, three Saks Fifth Avenue and 13 Saks Off 5th stores, which are also scheduled to close.

The six stores excluded from the liquidation sale include the Hudson’s Bay flagship on Yonge Street in Toronto, a store in the city’s Yorkdale Shopping Center and one at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The remaining…
