Canada’s oldest company will begin liquidating most of its stores this morning.

Hudson’s Bay says all but six of its locations will be selling off their inventory.

The company is aiming to wrap up the liquidation by June 15. Gift cards will be accepted until April 6, but loyalty points cannot be used.

Hudson’s Bay says all sales will be final at the liquidating stores.

The six stores omitted from the liquidation sales include the flagship on Yonge Street in Toronto, as well as a location in the city’s Yorkdale Mall and another farther north in Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, Ont.

The remaining three span downtown Montreal, the Carrefour Laval Mall, and Point-Claire, Que.

Canada’s oldest company has begun selling the inventory at nearly all its stores as it continues to hold out hope for a last-minute option to restructure.

The move comes after an Ontario court on Friday gave Hudson’s Bay permission to proceed with a revised liquidation plan, which will temporarily exclude six stores from the initial list. The company operates 80 Hudson’s Bay stores and, through a licensing agreement, three Saks Fifth Avenue and 13 Saks Off 5th stores, which are also scheduled to close.

The six stores excluded from the liquidation sale include the Hudson’s Bay flagship on Yonge Street in Toronto, a store in the city’s Yorkdale Shopping Center and one at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The remaining…

Liquidation sales are kicking off Monday morning at all but six of Hudson’s Bay’s locations as the company continues to search for a way to restructure. 

The six stores currently omitted from the liquidation include the flagship store on Yonge Street in Toronto, as well as two others in the Greater Toronto Area and three in Quebec, including one in downtown Montreal.

The former star of Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins and his wife Emilie were the directors of Sway and Starting Limited before it went into liquidation at the end of 2022.

The Government’s Insolvency Service found that the couple were taking millions of pounds out of the company at the same time that taxes were not being paid.

Some £385,000 in VAT and £869,000 in corporation tax was owed between 2019 and 2022.

But the pair had taken out about £3 million from the company in the form of a directors’ loan by the time it went into liquidation at the end of 2022, the service said.

Sway and Starting, which was described as offering media representation services, was set up to manage income from Middleton’s television and media…

The firm, based out of Twickenham Stadium (Allianz Stadium), provided fans with ticket packages and experience for England Rugby matches both home and away.

Paul Ellison and Rob Keyes of KRE Corporate Recovery Limited have been appointed liquidators for the firm, which was jointly run by the Rugby Football Union and Mike Burton Group having been launched 20 years ago in 2005.
