Latest monthly statistics from the Insolvency Service have shown that personal insolvencies increased whilst business insolvencies declined in Northern Ireland in February 2025.
The data showed that there 21 business insolvencies registered in Northern Ireland, this was 19% lower than in February 2024. The total number of company insolvencies was comprised of nine compulsory liquidations, eight CVLs, two CVAs and two administrations.
There were no receivership appointments.
Personal insolvency data showed that there 126 individual insolvencies in Northern Ireland. This was 3% higher than in February 2024.
There were 83 IVAs, 21 bankruptcies and 22 DROs.

Latest figures from the Insolvency Service have shown that the number of registered business insolvencies in England and Wales increased by 2.9% in February 2025 to a total of 2,035 compared to January 2025’s total of 1,978, and decreased by 7% compared to February 2024’s figure of 2,188.
The business insolvencies consisted of 393 compulsory liquidations, 1,520 creditors’ voluntary liquidations (CVLs), 115 administrations and 7 company voluntary arrangements (CVAs). There were no receivership appointments.
The number of compulsory liquidations was 41% higher than in January 2025 and 49% higher than in February 2024.

Top business groups such as JSW, Dalmia Bharat, Jindal Power, Vedanta, GMR, Welspun and Torrent have reportedly submitted expressions of interest (EoIs) for Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL). The Adani Group is also expected to submit an EoI before the final deadline of March 25.
According to a report in The Economic Times, another large Delhi-based industrial house is expected to submit an EoI, as is Kotak Alternate Assets. EoIs are the first stage in the bidding process for a new owner for JAL.

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has set aside the bankruptcy case against Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Ltd (EOGEPL), a subsidiary of Essar Group.
An NCLAT bench led by chairperson Justice Ashok Bhushan overturned the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) order, based on a petition from Greka Green Solutions (India) Ltd, which claimed it was owed ₹24.38 crore (about $2.96 million). One of New Zealand’s largest cherry growers, Cherri Global, has gone into liquidation, according to reporting from Farmers Weekly.

According to the publication, Cherri Global, including its subsidiary companies Cherri Holdings and Cherri Machinery, was placed in liquidation on 8 March through a special resolution of shareholders.
