TOKYO — About 60% of online casino users in Japan admit having a gambling addiction, with more than 40% have been in debt, according to a National Police Agency survey.


The survey found 67.6% of the 500 respondents who engaged in illegal gambling online were men, and 32.4% were women. Users in their 20s comprised 30.0%, those in their 30s accounted for 28.8%, followed by 22.4% in their 40s, 7.8% in their 50s and 3.6% aged 10 to 19.


An estimated 1.24 trillion yen (around $8.36 billion) is wagered from Japan annually, with users in their 30s…

Hudson’s Bay announced late Friday evening that unless it finds a more viable path forward, it will begin liquidating its entire business as soon as next week, putting more than 9,000 jobs at risk.

The department store chain that dates back to 1670 and now spans 80 stores said it has been forced toward a full liquidation because “exhaustive” efforts haven’t turned up the financing it needs to keep at least some of its empire alive.

Reality television icons, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, are set to descend on East Lancashire later this year.

The duo are bringing their tour, An Evening with Katie Price and Kerry Katona, to the Burnley Mechanics theatre on October 14.
