The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), through Caritas Zambia, has called for support from the stakeholders in the debt cancellation campaign which was launched on 31st January 2025 by the Zambian Catholic Bishops.

The ZCCB Caritas Executive Director Fr. Gabriel Mapulanga says that to kick-start the campaign, they look forward to working with civil society organizations, the government, opposition politicians, church mother bodies, other religious organizations that are not Christian, the media, and the lenders themselves.

It’s already the middle of February, and if you’ve been following the KTM insolvency saga, then the name of this month may just ring a bell for you. Why? Because February 25th is the deadline for any KTM restructuring plan to officially be approved by its creditors. 

Preliminary hearings have so far allowed KTM to continue operation under self-administration, per AKV Europa, the Alpine Creditors’ Association, which is administering the proceedings. According to the most recent tally of claims from creditors, a total of 3,534 claims against KTM were filed, with over 2,000 from employees and nearly 1,200 from creditors.

Insolvency board IBBI issued a discussion paper to provide clarity on various operational aspects including those related to coordinated resolution of interconnected entities and streamlining of submission of resolution plans. The paper proposes several amendments to address operational challenges in the resolution framework.

The IBBI has invited public comments on the discussion paper till February 25 through its website. In the discussion paper, the Insolvency Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) said, one of the major proposals is to strengthen the Committee of Creditors (CoC) decision-making process by mandating regular review of operational expenses, particularly leased properties.
