New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) After suffering from an acute financial crisis for years, United News of India (UNI), one of the oldest and credible news agencies in the country, is poised for rejuvenation as the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) today approved a Resolution Plan for the 64-year-old company.

The approval of the Resolution Plan, under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), provides for a substantial investment into the sick company, bringing much-wanted cheers to about 900 serving and former employees, including hundreds of Journalists.

“Today, history has been created as the Hon’ble NCLT has approved the Resolution Plan submitted by The Statesman Ltd, to revive United News of India (UNI),” said an excited Resolution…

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been tapped by President Donald Trump to lead federal cost-cutting efforts, said Tuesday that the United States would go “bankrupt” without budget cuts.

Keith Bell, who ran the Bishopton Road Post Office in Stockton, spent 20 years blaming himself for shortfalls on his accounts until he watched ‘Mr Bates v The Post Office’ and felt like his life was unfolding on TV.

He went from living a comfortable life to being bankrupt and even lost his new job as a driving instructor due to the criminal conviction, but has now received a £600,000 payout.

Keith told the Echo: “I got to the point when I had no money – there was nothing coming in. I tried to keep paying the mortgage but I had to declare myself bankrupt.

The Zeeland-West-Brabant court has declared the heavy-lift company, Gould Logistics Services BV, based in Vlissingen, bankrupt. The court is yet to unveil additional information on the bankruptcy. 

The company boasted a large fleet of equipment, ranging from telescopic and crawler cranes to SPMTs and trailers. It also included an in-house engineering department

The company has four business entities under its umbrella, namely Windpark Services, Offshore Service Base, Gould Logistics, and Rigging and Rental. Gould Windpark Servies BV and Gould Offshore Service Base BV have also been declared bankrupt by the court, according to its filing.

National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, New Delhi: In an appeal filed by the suspended director of the corporate debtor challenging the Adjudicating Authority’s order dated 08-01-2025 admitting an application under Section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC), a 3-member bench of Ashok Bhushan, J. (Chairperson), Barun Mitra (Technical Member) and Arun Baroka (Technical Member), upheld the Adjudicating Authority’s order. The NCLAT held that

“The default in repayment of the obligation by obligors cannot in any manner be put on the financial creditor nor constitution of PMC in any manner affect the obligation or absolve the corporate debtor from its default for repayment of the debt.”
