The U.S. Supreme Court in 2018 overturned federal prohibitions against sports betting. In the years since, many states have jumped on the gambling bandwagon.
Nearly two dozen states and Washington, D.C., have legalized sports betting, including online and mobile betting. Still, there are risks, unsurprisingly exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During lockdowns, online betting exploded. Now advocates are voicing concerns about problematic gambling and gambling addiction, which can be triggered by loneliness, stress, anxiety and depression.

Navin Shenoy, Intels top data centre executive, is leaving the semiconductor giant as part of a major restructuring that will regroup businesses around data centre, edge computing, software and accelerated computing.

The ACT Health Minister has called on the federal government to reconsider cutting off Canberra from bulk-billing incentives, as 30,000 members of a key affordable healthcare provider face an uncertain future. South Shore Holdings has applied to the Macau court for voluntary liquidation of its wholly-owned subsidiary New Concordia Hotel Limited, the sole beneficial owner of THE 13 Hotel.
The application comes as South Shore faces increasing pressure from its lenders to repay mounting debts, including a statutory demand issued by one lender earlier this month demanding payment of HK$3.28 billion (US$423 million) in outstanding loans and interest or face a winding up petition against the company.

The government liquidator dealing with the fallout from the collapse of outsourcing firm Carillion is expected to make a claim for 250m against KPMG, the accounting firm that signed off on the former FTSE100 companys accounts.
Lawyers for the official receiver, part of the governments Insolvency Service, have sent a letter before action to KPMG, warning the accounting and consultancy firm to expect a claim related to Carillions rapid implosion in 2018.
The letter is a precursor to a full-blown lawsuit, likely to involve the Insolvency Service, alleging that KPMG did not examine Carillions accounts properly, failing to spot that it was presenting a much healthier financial picture of itself than the underlying reality.

PODGORICA — A European financial institution is prepared to help refinance Montenegro’s $1 billion debt to China, which the Balkan country incurred over a controversial highway project.
Montenegrin Finance Minister Milojko Spajic said the low-interest credit from the financial institution will allow the cash-strapped government make savings and cut interest rates. He also told a session of the parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee on June 17 that a nondisclosure agreement prevented him from revealing the lender, but that talks were “in the final phase.”
