CHARLESTON A 10-year-old girl was rescued Sunday from the Embarras River after her kayak had capsized.

According to a news release from the Lincoln Fire Protection District, emergency crews were dispatched to County Road 420 North in Coles County around 11:05 a.m. after learning that a girl was stranded on a log in the river after her kayak had struck some debris. Her father was able to make it to the shore.

UPDATED 9.50am: Administrators for the National Health Co-operative say they are confident the embattled health service can continue trading for at least three months, given the cash flow.
Speaking to ABC Radio, Michael Slaven from Slaven Torline said that he was hopeful the NHCs issues could be resolved within that period and that retaining staff was a key focus. Administrators are currently speaking with all staff.
The first option for the not-for-profit business is likely to be discussions with other medical practitioners.

UNITED NATIONS, CMC United Nations Secretary-General Antnio Guterres has called for debt relief extension forCaribbean and other middle-income countries.
Guterres says that innovative measures to address debt are required to help the world’s more than 100 middle-income countries expand their economies and exit the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addressing a high-level UN General Assembly meeting on these nations, which account for more than half of the UN’s 193 member-states, Guterres underlined the need for financing to help them recover in the wake of the global crisis.
He said that middle-income countries should have their debts suspended into 2022 to cope with the social and economic impact of the virus.
