“They said they had paid off one of my medical bills. I’m like, ‘This is a scam,'” Bryant said. “It literally sat on my workbench out in the garage for three weeks, maybe.”

The letter was legitimate. Bryant was able to pay off more than $2,000 in medical debt through a partnership between Verizon, Team Penske and the Indianapolis Colts.

“It’s real. It has been paid…

Danish insect ag co ENORM has been declared bankrupt after spending six months in a court-supervised restructuring process.

ENORM, which raised €50 million ($57 million) from backers including Danish ag co-op DLG in 2022, opened a factory in Jutland in 2023 to supply the animal feed market with protein and oil from black soldier fly larvae (BSFL).

Designed to produce around 11,000 tons of protein meal annually, the site was set to be one of Europe’s largest insect ag facilities. Innovafeed has a 15,000-ton site in France, while Protix has a 14,000-ton site in the Netherlands.

COO Jane Lind Sam told reporters earlier this year that ENORM had “experienced strong interest and premium pricing potential until late 2024.”…

Teenagers addicted to gambling are caught in a vicious cycle of debt, with some turning to private loans to repay what they owe.

A recent report titled “A Study on the Actual Conditions of Youth Cyber Gambling Experiences” by Lim Ji-yeon, a senior research fellow at the National Youth Policy Institute, found that 12.7 percent of 520 teenagers aged 13 to 19 who engaged in online gambling last year had borrowed money through illegal online loans or high-interest loans from friends to pay off gambling debts.

The report also found that many teenagers engaged in illegal activities to pay off gambling debts, including illegal gambling (57.7 percent), fraud (36.2 percent), theft (22.2 percent), selling personal information (14.3 percent),…

UK households facing rising energy bills this winter could receive grants worth thousands of pounds to help clear debt.

Support is available through two schemes operated by the British Gas Energy Trust, offering different funding levels depending on a customer’s supplier.

British Gas customers may be eligible for grants of up to £2,000, while people who receive their energy from other suppliers can apply for support worth as much as £1,700.

The grants are designed to help households clear existing energy arrears rather than provide general financial assistance.

They are targeted at people who have fallen behind on payments and are struggling to catch up as energy costs remain elevated.

The Energy Support Fund is open to British Gas…
