A GOLD Coast schoolboy was kidnapped, bound and held captive over a multimillion-dollar gambling debt, police will allege.

The 12-year-old boy cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The 12-year-old boy cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The terrifying ordeal ended near a police roadblock in the northern NSW town of Grafton on Saturday afternoon, almost 24 hours after the 12-year-old high school student was allegedly dragged screaming into a car outside his Gold Coast home after school on Friday.

It is understood he was found lashed to a headrest by the neck in the back seat.

Detectives will now apply to extradite a 53-year-old Australian man of Chinese heritage to face a charge of kidnapping for ransom.

It is understood police will allege the kidnapping was part …

Stephen Wilson needed one goal.

The game was Englands ladies vs Norway.

He had no clue who the players were, but a goal would earn him over four grand.

And then it came.

I should have been so happy but I pretty much just felt numb, admits Stephen.

I knew deep down I was going to just lose it all again.

Within just three days, he had.

Over the years, I reckon Ive lost about £20,000 through gambling, adds the 31-year-old.

At one point I was gambling using four different credit cards and Ive had to use payday loans – it was a bit mental to be honest.

I had to get my exs dad to get a loan to pay off debts and Ive just sold our flat – I should have £12k to show for it but Im just paying him back.

With a deep breath, he admits: Im a…

JSW Steel today said the Competition Commission of India has approved the bid by a consortium led by it to acquire bankrupt Monnet Ispat and Energy Ltd (MIEL) in an insolvency auction. The committee of creditors (CoC) of Monnet Ispat and Energy, which is undergoing insolvency proceedings, had on April 12 approved the resolution plan submitted by the only bidder Sajjan Jindal’s JSW Steel along with AION Capital.

“The Competition Commission of India (CCI)…considered the proposed combination and is of the opinion that there is no appreciable adverse effect on competition,” JSW Steel said in a regulatory filing.

The resolution plan remains subject to the approval of the National Company Law Tribunal (Mumbai bench), it…

NEW DELHI | MUMBAI: The threat of liquidation hangs over Jaypee Infratech after the Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) told the Supreme Court on Friday that the bankruptcy resolution process at the debt-laden realtor had failed to stitch together a revival plan before the clock ran out.

According to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, a resolution plan must be finalised and approved within 270 days of a companys admission to the National Company Law Tribunal: That deadline ended Saturday.

The development at the apex court follows the committee of creditors decision, earlier this week, to reject the highest offer from Lakshadweep, a joint venture between Suraksha Asset Reconstruction and Mumbai builder Dosti Realty. Jaypee Infr…

From the beginning, Danny and Betty Robersons love was steeped in their faith.

I married her on top of a mountain in Colorado 16 years ago, as close to God as I could get her, Danny said.

Danny decided to donate $10,000 to RIP Medical Debt in Betty’s memory, which will forgive $1 million in debt.

The couple stood together through a fight with cancer. Their love was strong even after Betty got a little closer to God and left Danny behind.

Betty died earlier this year after having the max amount of chemo a body can handle, but her tumor kept growing.

“You know its something you never really plan for and even though I knew it was coming. When she did pass, it was very sudden. It just hits you in the gut,” Danny said.

There were other treatme…

It looks like a movie, but is real life.

Thats how prosecutors described the beating that bookie Quang PT Le, 27, of Dorchester, delivered in November 2016 to a man who owed a $40,000 gambling debt.

On Wednesday, prosecutors said, Le received a 6-year prison term during a hearing in US District Court in Boston, following his guilty plea in February to charges of kidna…

Hyundai Mobis shares rose 2.4 per cent, the most more since April 4, to close at 237,000 won in Seoul, while the benchmark Kospi index rose 0.6 per cent.

Chung said he wasn’t fazed by Elliott.

“That’s the way they do business,” Chung said. “We will listen carefully and if there are proposals that bring benefits to our company and other shareholders, we will review some of that.”

Though Chung acknowledged that Mobis needs to do more to win over shareholders, he said his broader plan for the group centers on transforming Mobis from a simple parts maker to a cutting-edge, technology-centered automotive supplier that would challenge Germany’s Robert Bosch GmbH and lead the entire group in profits. That way, earnings would rise and return…

Drivers in their thousands have been left without insurance cover after insurance firm Alpha announced it had gone bust.

The drivers insured with their UK brands, Cover My Cab and Protector, received a text message stating: “Your taxi insurance policy with Alpha Insurance is cancelled with immediate effect.”

The text meant thousands of taxi drivers were left without insurance as of May 9, Wales Online reported.

According to the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association (LTDA), the company insured 700 taxi drivers and 10,000 private hire vehicles in London alone.

General Secretary of the LTDA, Steve McNamara, said: “We have notified all of our members about this change, to ensure that no-one is unintentionally driving without insu…
