New Delhi, Dec 7 Puravankara and Godrej Properties are among at least six companies that have expressed interest in submitting resolution plan for Amrapali Silicon City, a group firm of debt-ridden realty firm Amrapali.

Investments of thousands of home buyers are stuck due to huge delays by Amrapali group in completion of projects, forcing them to protest and file legal cases in courts.

In September, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) had admitted a petition of Bank of Baroda against Amrapali Silicon City over a loan default. An interim resolution professional (IRP) was appointed to carry out the proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).

Amrapali Silicon City is developing a residential project Amrapali Silicon City…

Its been almost four years since Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraines former president, fled the country after the Euromaidan revolution. But the new governments investigators have so far been unable to establish how much money his rule has cost the country — or where it went.

There has been even less progress punishing those who enriched themselves through their connections to the former president, a group dubbed the Family due to the involvement of both of his sons.

Now, thanks to documents released in the Panama Papers leak last year, journalists have established how, in the last days of Yanukovychs rule, about US$ 19 million in state funds were diverted from a large Ukrainian bank that belonged to a fri…

Millions of young Brits are in danger of stepping into adulthood in debt, with one in four under-18s being tempted into credit cards before they can legally accept it.

A quarter of 16-and-17-year-olds said they’d been offered a credit card or had received material around personal loans in the past – despite the fact that they were underage.

By law, people below the age of 18 are not allowed to enter into their own credit card agreement – this includes taking out loans and purchasing items on credit.

However the fact that it’s being offered at a vulnerable age is enough to lure them into a life of debt – with those tempted, waiting to reach 18, to take up the invites.

In turn, comparethemarket.com found one in five end up re…

BRISBANE-BASED company, Blue Ribbon Seed and Pulse Exporters Pty Ltd, has gone into liquidation following an application from Bean Growers Australia (BGA) filed last month in the Supreme Court of Queensland.

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission has stated, Peter Dinoris, of Artemis Insolvency has been appointed as the liquidator.

This step may see the company, which as of last week employed around 15 people, transition into new ownership.

I am communicating with a party interested in the assets and business of the company, Mr Dinoris said.

Mr Dinoris said a list of creditors, including BGA, was likely to be available next week.

Blue Ribbon has been a volume export…

Studies on an underground crypt which opened up in an unmarked grave in Ipswichs General Cemetery have revealed the body of one of Queenslands first parliamentarians.

The body of 1860 West Moreton MP Joseph Fleming and his wife, Phoebe Fleming, have recently been identified in the very rare igloo-shaped underground burial crypt.

Mr Fleming was a member of the first Queensland Parliament, representing West Moreton from July 9, 1860 until November 3, 1862 and then again from September 11, 1866 until July 2, 1867.

The hole in the unmarked section of the Ipswich cemetery first appeared during a dro…

Former Melbourne and Canberra winger Sisa Waqa has fled to Fiji after manipulating fans into lending him money that he never repayed.

In a story revealed by Channel Nine’s A Current Affair, Waqa allegedly stole $12,000 from struggling student Adrian Paul and another $1200 dollars from gym owner Kieran Atkin to fund his gambling addiction.

He reportedly told the conned victims that he was waiting for payments from French rugby club FC Grenoble and even gave Atkin his card and pin number to take the money out once it arrived.

But the words ”insufficient funds” kept popping up, …

Hello Nicole,

I have come across your article titled “Nicole Helps identify a good offset account”. My questions to you is: I make loan repayments fortnightly and we have an offset account (this is something I will have to investigate further after reading your article). My real concern is why doesn’t my mortgage debt level reduce every time I make a repayment? Do I need to specifically request that my repayments should be paid as a principal payment to reduce my mortgage? I understand we pay interest and this is why sometimes we may not see the actual principal reduce but I am making fortnightly repayments and also have an offset account linked to my mortgage. Can I request a schedule of payment which shows projections of my deb…

The concept of using technology to help save money is not new, with Acorns and INGs apps rounding each purchase you make to the nearest dollar and sending the spare change to your investment or savings account. But theres a new kid on the block putting their own spin on the concept to help consumers put their loose change to good use.

Sydney fintech start-up Carrott launched earlier this year in a bid to help millennials build their superannuation savings using lazy cash. The app works by linking to your transaction account and monitoring your spending. It rounds up each purchase to the nearest dollar and once the loose change reaches over $5 (or an amount decided on by you), …

A SENATE inquiry into primary production financial lending has made 27 recommendations aimed at enhancing farmers powers and rights in sensitive areas like debt mediation and farm foreclosures.

The six-month examination by the Senate select committee was Co-chaired by One Nation Queensland Senator and party leader Pauline Hanson, former One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts and NSW Nationals Senator John Wacka Williams.

A key recommendation in the Committees final report tabled in the Senate today said the federal government should establish a nationally consistent compulsory farm debt mediation scheme, based on the NSW model, with a $10 million limit on loan amounts.

It also called for the governments newly established Ro…

CONTAINED in the newly-discovered crypt is a man with a life story littered with difficulty.

Joseph Fleming was born in New South Wales in 1811 before moving to Queensland in 1848.

In September 1850 at Ipswich he bought town lots on which he established a boiling-down works, sawmill and flour mill.

Mr Fleming was also a partner in the steamer Bremer trading to Brisbane.

He had nine children with his wife, who died in 1851.

In 1860 Mr Fleming was elected for West Moreton to the Legislative Assembly, but never said a word in parliament.

An earlier civil lawsuit, flood damage and falling wheat prices put him in financial difficulties.

He took up 400-square miles of new country on the Warrego in August 1861.

After not being able to afford the li…
