More than 2,000 Scotland-based jobs are at risk as oil and energy services group Petrofac has applied for administration.
The group’s operations will continue to trade, and options for restructuring of the company and a possible merger or acquisition are being actively explored with its key creditors, the company said on Monday.
People close to the company say they are hopeful a buyer can be found swiftly for its North Sea operations, with one suggesting that it could even happen in the coming days.

[SINGAPORE] Frasers Centrepoint Trust has filed a S$2.6 million claim against mm2 Asia, said the entertainment group on Monday (Oct 27), after it guaranteed lease obligations of its now-closed cinema unit at Causeway Point.
The claim arises from a deed of guarantee signed by mm2 Asia in December last year in favour of HSBC Institutional Trust Services, the trustee of FCT, covering lease obligations of Cathay Cineplexes.
The originating claim and statement of claim, dated Oct 23, were received by mm2 on Friday. It includes interest charge of 12 per cent, damages, costs and other reliefs.
The former cinema chain is currently undergoing voluntary liquidation, having ceased operations on Sep 1.

Paul, not his real name, started gambling illegally at 16 at the bookies but it was in the forces he says he lost control of his addiction.

A process server found him at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Manhattan and hand-delivered a lawsuit from his former agency, Hazan Sports, which claimed Beasley had breached a marketing deal with the company and fired it as his representation two months earlier. Hazan Sports had sued him for more than $2.5 million in response.

The Bombay High Court has quashed an order passed by the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, Akola, and subsequent recovery proceedings against Srei Equipment Finance Limited, holding them to be in contravention of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016.
