In a recent ruling, the Orissa High Court observed that directors of a company cannot escape criminal liability for cheque dishonour merely because the company has been declared insolvent.
Syed Najam Ahmed, the petitioner and Managing Director of Zenith Mining Private Limited, filed a petition before the High Court challenging the order of the JMFC (LR), Bhubaneswar, which had rejected his plea for discharge in a complaint filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

It’s been an issue for many schools in the U.S for years now, with the Douglas School District being no exception.
The district currently finds itself with a negative meal balance of more than $8,000.
To help them remedy the debt, they utilize their “Angel Fund,” which helps families dealing with negative lunch accounts.
The problem is that the balance of the “Angel Fund” is currently very low.
The fund is supported by families who move out of the district and decide to give their remaining meal balances to help those in need.

GrabOne has gone into liquidation.
Daniel Stoneman and Neale Jackson of Calibre Partners said on Thursday they had been appointed liquidators of Global Marketplace New Zealand, which operates GrabOne in this country.
“Due to funding constraints, the business has ceased trading and the liquidators are immediately commencing a sales process for the company’s business and assets.
