Western Province Rugby was rocked by news over the weekend that its erstwhile minority shareholder, Remgro, had declined to take up a shareholding in the unions new commercial arm following the successful liquidation of Western Province Rugby (Pty) Ltd.
Aerios, a sports marketing company led by Costas Constantinou, says this is all part of Remgro trying to put as much distance as possible between itself and the shady dealings of Western Province Rugby led by Thelo Wakefield and Paul Zacks who forced the commercial arm into a contrived liquidation.

Avaya has revealed its steps toward exiting Chapter 11 bankruptcy, including the appointment of a new chief executive, agreements with priority creditors and a debt reduction of more than US$3 billion.
The unified communications vendor announced overnight that it had entered into a plan support agreement (PSA) with more than 50 percent of the holders of its first lien debt. Negotiations with Avaya creditors of the “ad hoc group of first lien creditors” have led to an agreement to wipe more than US$3 billion from the vendors debts.
Additionally, the company struck a deal with the US Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), which will take on the obligations of Avayas staff pension plan in the US.

TWELVE Fraser Coast businesses have declared bankruptcy in the last financial quarter.
Four of the businesses were from Hervey Bay and eight were from Maryborough.
The figures released by the Australian Financial Security Authority revealed how many new incidences of financial problems occurred in Gladstone between April 2017 and June 2017.
In Hervey Bay 18 individuals declared insolvency, which was the same number in Maryborough.
The data shows Gladstone had a total of 38 new debtors in the June quarter.
Rockhampton fared far worse than Gladstone, however, with 33 people filing for bankruptcy and 46 entering debt agreements.

LATEST figures reveal personal insolvency has sky-rocketed in one Coast suburb and continues to climb in another.
The total number of debtors in Nambour jumped from 17 in the March Quarter of 2017 to 27 in the June Quarter of this year.
Personal insolvency also increased in Maroochy, from 24 debtors to 27 in the same time frame.
Personal bankruptcies more than doubled in the Gympie-Cooloola region, jumping from 12 debtors to 25, while Maryborough increased from 16 debtors to 26.
The number of debtors decreased in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland (22 down to 11), Noosa (27 down to 16), Caloundra (57 down to 39) and Buderim (25 down to 19).
