The HECS Bill, the first piece of legislation the Federal Government introduced to the new parliament, has enjoyed smooth sailing through both houses.

The House of Representatives was never going to be an issue with the government having more than enough numbers to pass its bill. The Senate didn’t raise any significant worries for Labor either.

The bill passed 36 votes to 3 in the Upper House on Thursday morning (31 July) with the…

LOGAN, Utah — This week, 21 human service professionals across Utah completed a 10-week training program and are now provisionally certified as Community Justice Advocates.

These advocates will begin a 10-week intensive supervision period under the direction of licensed attorneys, during which they will support people navigating legal challenges related to debt collection that often leave individuals without assistance and a clear path forward.

Consumers are getting on top of their debts, but it is a different story for small businesses, with liquidations on the rise.

Credit reporting firm Centrix said June’s data paints a complex picture, with a slight year-on-year improvement in arrears, while small businesses were experiencing elevated debt stress at more than double the rate of non-business owners.

The June report indicated the number of individuals behind on payments in June fell by 7000 to 478,000, representing 12 percent of the credit-active population.

Mortgage arrears fell 1.4 percent with 21,600 home loans past due, while mortgage…

TV presenter Kate Garraway has reportedly had no other choice to sell her second home as she battles with a £800,000 debt.

In 2024, Garraway revealed she was spending £16,000 a month on care for her husband Derek Draper before he died in January that year at the age of 56 after a lengthy battle with the long-term effects of Covid.

The Good Morning Britain (GMB) presenter said the cost of his basic care exceeded her ITV salary and did not factor in his therapies, the mortgage payments or other household expenses.

Garraway’s second property is located in North London and sold for £1.5 million, according to The Sun.

However, due to the flat being “heavily mortgaged” what she’ll get from it will cover little of her debt, the…
