A Del Taco franchise took a risky, million-dollar move. Now, it’s bankrupt.

Matador Restaurant Group, a South Carolina-based operator of Del Taco locations in Georgia and Alabama, filed for Chapter 11 protection last week.

It’s the latest restaurant brand to collapse under financial pressure. The past year has been notably brutal for chains that cater to low- and middle-income diners.

And it adds to a string of troubles for Del Taco itself.

The brand — which competes with Taco…

Dutch tech company CE-Line, developer of sensor technology for greenhouse horticulture, has been declared bankrupt. The international branch, CE-Line International, is also in a state of bankruptcy. The trustee is investigating a potential restart, and interested parties are invited to come forward.

The CE-Line system, developed by the scale-up from Emmeloord in the Dutch province of Flevoland, enables real-time laboratory analysis of nutrient levels in irrigation and drainage water. The company developed a ‘plug-and-play’ measuring system that can be connected to the grower’s existing water supply, but also be used in water-saving and recycling processes, such as wastewater reuse. After an intensive development and…

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Mumbai bench of Shri Anil Raj Chellan (Technical Member) and Shri K. R. Saji Kumar (Judicial Member)has held that the Adjudicating Authority cannot direct realisation of security interest under section 52(5) of the IBC when the Secured Creditor has failed to establish any resistance from the Corporate Debtor or any connected persons in realising the security interest. In this case, the assets sought to be charged in favor of the Creditor could not even be traced, therefore the NCLT refused to allow the application seeking distribution of the sale proceeds in favor of the Applicant.

The Dutch arm of Taco Bell has been declared bankrupt, marking the fast food chain’s second collapse in the Netherlands in less than a decade, RTL reports. Ten restaurants across the country, including in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague, have been forced to close. However, the company said it remains committed to keeping the restaurants open.

On Wednesday, the Rotterdam district court officially declared T Bello Nederland bankrupt. The company operated all Dutch Taco Bell locations under a franchise agreement with a British operator. Dutch bankruptcy trustee Maarten Jansen has been appointed to oversee the proceedings, though he was not immediately available to give RTL a comment.

The collapse comes after a period of financial turmoil…

The major bank is following regulator recommendations and implementing student debt servicing assistance to help boost home ownership.

NAB will no longer consider Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt in home loan servicing if they owe $20,000 or less, effective from 31 July.

Matt Dawson, NAB’s executive for home ownership, said these changes will help get more first home buyers into the market.

However, he also recognised that supply remains a key challenge, calling on “collaboration across the board” to help address these issues.

Last month, APRA set a start date for its guidance on the servicing of HELP debt when assessing home loan applications, kicking off on 30 September 2025.

For those applicable, the debt will not be included in NAB’s home lending assessment.
