Are the foreign investors sensing a gradual improvement in the country’s business climate? Did the much-hyped four-day investment summit in April instil some confidence in foreign businesses to invest in Bangladesh now? These two questions seem pertinent in light of the data released by the central bank’for the third quarter of the past fiscal year (FY25) regarding foreign direct investment (FDI). It showed that the net inflow of FDI jumped significantly in the third quarter (January-March) of FY25.

The big jump is presented in the newspapers with various attractive headlines, as if something significant has happened.  One daily writes: ”FDI hits 2-year high in Jan-Mar”; another heading goes like this: ”FDI surges despite…

EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon has encountered further distress a year on from her separation from husband Jack McManus.

The 49 year old actress has been declared bankrupt following a petition for insolvency due to a debt owed to a finance firm, official public records indicate. This comes after she was compelled to reduce the asking price of her beautiful Surrey home.

Connelly’s musical career saw him work on additional sound for the Tomb Raider III before he became the lead composer for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.

When officers from the Insolvency Service interviewed him, he said was working on an re-imagining of the music from the Tomb Raider soundtracks and claimed the project had the potential to be very lucrative.

He began borrowing money through the Covid business loan scheme in May 2020, when he took out an initial £22,000.

While the first loan was legal, he then applied for a second loan in June through a different bank.

During the application, he claimed his company’s turnover was £150,000 but the Insolvency Service…

Actress and singer Martine McCutcheon has been declared bankrupt, 11 months on from her marriage split.

The ex-EastEnders star began dating Jack McManus in 2009, and they married in 2012 before announcing their separation last year.

Now, it has been revealed that the 49-year-old has filed a petition for insolvency due to a debt to a finance company.

As official public records state, Love Actually actress Martine made the filing just two months after selling her family home, which she did at a slashed price, knocking £250,000 off the £1.5million Surrey pad for a faster sale.

According to MailOnline, Martine’s bankruptcy order was…

Some staff have not been paid at a Canberra private school that’s in danger of being declared insolvent for failing to pay an $8 million tax bill on time.

The affected staff at Brindabella Christian College (BCC) were meant to receive their wages by Friday.

The school’s executive principal has blamed not paying some of its staff on “timing challenges” related to receiving school fee payments from parents.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has commenced federal court action to recoup the $8 million debt, and the ACT government is considering regulatory action of its own.

In a letter sent to affected staff on Sunday, seen by the ABC, executive principal Suzanne Power said outstanding payments would be made “daily as income is received”.
