A report presented to the Corporate Services Committee revealed that West Dunbartonshire Council’s debt management team collected 97.29 per cent of the £92.1 million owed in non-domestic business rates.
However, members agreed to write off £637,211 of non-domestic business rates dating back to 2019, after all collection avenues were exhausted.
The majority of this sum is owed by dissolved businesses, including a debt owed by one company of more than £364,470.
