SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (WKRC) – A man allegedly attempted to escape over $16,000 in gambling debt he accumulated in a cruise ship casino by jumping off the ship.
Jey González Díaz allegedly boarded Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas on Aug. 31 and remained on board through the entirety of its trip to Barbados and back to port on Sept. 7, according to CBS News and People.
González Díaz reportedly jumped off of the cruise ship at the San Juan port at around 9:15 a.m., but was quickly found by someone on a jet ski and returned to shore. He was immediately arrested and detained, and authorities found five different identification cards on him as well as $14,600 in cash and two cell phones, per local outlet El Nuevo Dia. The…
