GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina’s medical debt relief initiative has already erased six and a half billion dollars in hospital debt for more than two and a half million residents.
Yet in Guilford County, where nearly one in five adults struggles with unpaid medical bills, community leaders are stepping in to help fill the gap. One of those leaders is Dennis White, part of a local group called Healing Without Debt Guilford, a faith-based, grassroots coalition connecting residents to financial relief and hospital charity programs before debt spirals out of control.
