A pioneering government-funded collaboration, Net Savings, has been launched in Cornwall to address the financial instability, fluctuating income and social isolation faced by many fishermen and their families.
The initiative sees Citizens Advice Cornwall team up with the Cornwall Rural Community Charity to provide tailored budget management and debt support right on the quayside, with the aim of tackling the fact that despite being the ‘beating heart’ of the county’s coastal heritage, many fishermen struggle with the unpredictability of their earnings.
