DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Duluth’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church hopes to raise $17,000 this Easter to help neighbors by addressing medical debt.
Rev. Maggie Nancarrow said serving the community is a cornerstone of the church’s mission.
She noted the church helped found St. Luke’s Hospital — now Aspirus St. Luke’s — in the early 1880s during a typhoid epidemic.
“Times are really hard right now,” the Reverend said. “We all really care about this, and this is one way that we can make a dent in all of the difficulties that folks in the community are facing.”
The church is partnering with Undue Medical Deb, a national nonprofit that purchases medical debt in bulk.
