This was made possible due to £74,041.99 of support from the Scottish Government’s School Meal Debt Fund, which was launched to address financial pressures and remove barriers to learning for children.
SNP candidate Stuart McMillan said: “The cost of living crisis is affecting households across Inverclyde, so it’s important that we provide meaningful support to help people.
“Clearing school meal debt helps remove stigma and undue burden on children.
“No family should face unnecessary stress over the cost of their child’s lunch.”
Mr McMillan highlighted that more than 230,000 pupils in Scotland currently benefit from free school meals, including more than 3,000 in Inverclyde.
