New government figures show that 264 residents in Basingstoke and Deane entered the Breathing Space scheme in 2025.
Breathing Space, also known as the Debt Respite Scheme, offers people temporary legal protection from creditor action, interest and charges for up to 60 days.

The scheme is designed to give individuals breathing room to seek free debt advice and develop a plan to manage their debts.
