The widow of a gambling addict is initiating a legal claim against Betfair, following the tragic suicide of her husband, Luke Ashton, who accumulated £18,000 in debt due to his gambling addiction. Ashton, 40, from Leicester, took his own life in April 2021 after grappling with a gambling disorder that led him to make extensive bets with the betting company, which frequently offered him promotional “free” bets.
