LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The City of Lexington announced a third wave of medical debt relief for more city residents.
Lexington has partnered with the national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to provide financial relief to the Lexington community.
The third wave of relief will work to help 2,185 residents. The most recent relieved medical debt totaled nearly $5 million.
Anyone whose debt was relieved will receive mailed notifications, and the Urban City Council encourages residents to keep these letters for proof of debt relief.
The partnership eliminates medical debt for residents with incomes up to 400 percent of federal poverty guidelines — just over $100,000 for a family of three — or whose medical debt represents 5 percent or more…
