Danny Parsons of Oberlin, Ohio, was helping to put away the dishes when he picked up a porcelain pan to place it on a shelf and it broke, slicing open his wrist.
“Blood started pouring everywhere,” the 52-year-old said. “I yelled for my wife, and we rushed to the ER. Right away, I’m thinking, I’m dying. This is it.”
Fortunately for Parsons, his wound ended up being millimeters away from requiring major emergency surgery, he said. However, the August 2020 injury left him with a lengthy recovery period, a scar and a $3,600 financial hit, which included visits with a number of doctors and a specialized surgeon.
