São Paulo governor Tarcísio de Freitas has joined the growing chorus of politicians calling for an end to betting in Brazil.
Tarcísio de Freitas, who is seeking re-election as governor of São Paulo, stated during a debate that Brazil needs to end betting.
Thus, in aiming for conservative votes, another nationally relevant politician has joined the trend of criticising sports betting.
With a strong chance of remaining in the Palácio dos Bandeirantes (São Paulo state government headquarters), Tarcísio stated: “Either Brazil ends betting, or betting ends Brazil. We have to understand that this is a health problem.”
