The City of Windhoek has announced plans to write off outstanding municipal debts for eligible residents, launching a verification and registration drive to identify qualifying households.
The debt relief scheme targets specific vulnerable groups, including pensioners, deceased estates, and individuals registered under destitute status.
To qualify for consideration, eligible residents must submit certified supporting documentation, including a copy of their ID, title deed, letter of executorship (for deceased estates), or official proof of destitute status. Registrations and detailed verifications are currently being processed at the Debt Management Office located at the City’s Head Office, as well as at the Soweto Customer Care Centre.
