New Delhi: A 26-year-old former employee and his associate have been arrested for allegedly trying to extort ₹10 lakh from a Rohini resident by threatening to kill him and his family. A 15-year-old juvenile has also been apprehended.
Police said the complainant received three threatening calls on August 29, with the caller allegedly claiming to be associated with the Neeraj Bawania gang and demanding ₹10 lakh. The complainant approached Begumpur police on August 30 but allegedly continued receiving threatening calls on August 30 and 31.
Police registered an FIR and laid a trap, asking the accused to collect the purported extortion money near Rithala Metro Station.
