The figures revealed under the Freedom of Information Act show that 8,288 council tax debts were passed on to bailiffs by Bolton Council over the course of 2025/26.
This is a sharp rise of 21 per cent compared to the previous year, sparking warnings about the mounting cost of living pressures faced by people in Bolton and beyond.
