LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — Some Kentuckians are getting letters from the state stating their medical debt is canceled.
Patty Houchin got a letter in the mail Saturday from Team Kentucky that said $1,000 of her mom’s medical debt had been canceled.
The cancellation was for her mom’s unpaid hospital bills from 2022.
Houchin said she did not even know the debt existed because it was a hectic time in her life.
“I wasn’t even aware of that bill,” Houchin said.
Houchin takes care of her 68-year-old mom, who was diagnosed with dementia 12 years ago.
“She’s very, very late term,” Houchin said. “So can’t speak or anything like that.”
It is expensive for her mom to get the medical care she needs, so Houchin was happy to learn…
