The write off of historic debt accrued by the county’s former failed county council is the latest battleground for Reform UK run West Northants with the Labour government.
Today (October 29) council leader Mark Arnull issued a public statement to say he has written to the Labour secretary of state for local government Angela Rayner, to ask her to review and cancel the £500m plus historic debt which was added to the Northants unitary councils balance sheets when they began in 2021.
