LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — More medical debt relief is coming to thousands of Kentuckians.
Gov. Andy Beshear said a total of $153 million of medical debt is now erased, covering about 67,000 Kentuckians struggling to make ends meet.
It’s a part of an executive order from Beshear in September. His administration is sending letters to the people who qualify.
The last round of relief helped about 22,000 people.
“Relieving this debt is the right thing to do to help Kentuckians who are so overwhelmed by so many costs right now,” Beshear said. “Those costs can cripple families for a year if not a lifetime. That’s wrong and our people deserve so much better.”
The goal is to erase $250 million in medical debt across Kentucky….
