Brazil’s federal government is preparing new restrictions on sports betting advertising as part of a broader effort to reduce consumer debt and limit public exposure to gambling-related content.
The announcement was made Monday by Finance Ministry executive secretary Dário Durigan during the presentation of the government’s new “Desenrola Adimplentes” program at the Palácio do Planalto.
According to local reports, the government intends to tighten controls on betting advertisements through administrative measures already available to the Executive branch, while also considering a provisional measure if additional regulatory powers are needed.
