Police rescued a 36-year-old Chinese national on April 17 who was held captive in an Airbnb unit in Cheras over a gambling debt.
In a statement, Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said preliminary investigations found that the victim was used as a “guarantor” after his friend incurred gambling debts amounting to RM100,000.
Following the friend’s disappearance, the victim was allegedly detained for three days at an Airbnb unit in Jalan Peel to force the repayment of his friend’s gambling debt.
