In an effort to alleviate the financial burden on municipal customers and ratepayers, the City of Durban’s eThekwini Municipality is urging them to take advantage of a special, full council-approved debt relief programme designed to assist households and businesses struggling with old debt. This programme includes a 50% write-off of arrear debt accumulated as at 31 January 2025.
The special debt relief programme will be in effect from May until 30 June 2025. Customers who participate in the programme are required to pay 50% of the corresponding debt in full and final settlement.
