AMERICAN FORK, Utah (KUTV) — Alpine School District is facing $600,000 in unpaid student lunch debt as inflation continues to strain family budgets. But at schools like Greenwood Elementary, staff and students are working together to make sure no child goes hungry.
During lunchtime at school, sixth grader Carter Barth helps prepare the cafeteria for the rush of students.
“Sometimes it can be very chaotic, very messy, but most of all, very fun,” Carter said.

Carter and several classmates volunteer as lunch workers, helping with different cafeteria tasks.
