Debt didn’t top the list. Gambling did.A new Northwestern Mutual survey found that excessive gambling and risk-taking is the No. 1 financial red flag Americans look for in a relationship, cited by 49% of respondents. Hiding or lying about purchases (47%) and high credit card debt (41%) rounded out the top three, followed by impulse spending, expecting a partner to cover every bill, living paycheck to paycheck and a lack of savings.Researchers point to how normalized high-risk betting has become, from sports betting apps to prediction markets, especially among younger generations who are also reporting the most financial strain in their relationships.Which one of these would be a dealbreaker for you?
