Nagpur: An e-rickshaw driver turned to chain snatching to fund his addiction to narcotics, particularly mephedrone (MD), and a gambling habit. The 25-year-old accused, Sachin Shahu, was arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with a recent incident in Laxmi Nagar. Police said Shahu was under mounting debt and had earlier attempted suicide, spending several days in hospital. However, he slipped back into addiction and gambling, continuing to lose money and remain in constant need of cash. He had even borrowed from his girlfriend to sustain his expenses.
