Carteret County students will now enter a new school year, lunch debt free. That’s thanks to a local organization.
You may remember from last summer, they kept the community entertained, they also supported students. It was called the ‘sign wars.’
Stores and restaurants went back and forth with funny signs, even going viral.
Gaffer’s in Emerald Isle decided to take that positive momentum, and use it toward benefitting County students.
According to the Carteret Education Foundation, funds raised were not only enough to eliminate lunch debt for the 2023–24 school year, it also allowed them to do it again for the 2024–2025 school year.
