An Australian poker star sued a fellow card player over an alleged gambling debt – the court found he was taking prohibited bets.
Gary Benson, who has racked up US$2.8 million ($3.9 million) in winnings on the world’s card tables, last year launched legal action against two fellow professional poker players in NSW Local Court.

The court heard Benson and Michael O’Grady had a “prolonged wagering relationship” over texts involving “a series of betting transactions which extended well beyond isolated wagers and resulted in the accumulation of significant liabilities said to be owing by Mr O’Grady”.
