JUNEAU The Republican senator in charge of crafting the capital budget is so staunchly opposed to Gov. Bill Walkers call for the state to issue hundreds of millions of dollars of general obligation bonds a part of the governor’s overall solution to the state government fiscal crisis that the proposal may not even be considered.
For the second year in a row, the governor is calling for a capital budget that is just enough to secure matching federal funds.
The proposed $1.3 billion budget is composed of $957 million in federal funds and $306 million in state funds, and mainly would go toward construction and infrastructure projects.
