GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Green Bay’s Bay Beach Amusement Park is about to be debt‑free, thanks in part to a $1.5 million gift.
That could soon mean fixes to your favorite rides.
Green Bay’s city council approved the donation agreement with the Friends of Bay Beach to help pay off the park’s remaining $3.75 million shoreline project bond.
The rest will come from Bay Beach’s own development fund.
Back in 2018, the city borrowed $5 million on a 20-year general obligation bond to rebuild Bay Beach’s shoreline.
That debt was supposed to run all the way to 2038, with the park making payments year after year out of its revenues.
With the debt gone, city leaders say more park revenue can go back into the grounds.
