The High Court of the Republic of Singapore has ruled that a foreign casino cannot collect gambling debts through its justice system.
The landmark decision makes Singaporeans immune from having an international casino demand repayment of gambling debts through the Singapore court system. Justice Philip Jeyaretnam ruled that a court decision in Hong Kong regarding outstanding gambling debts in China’s Macau is unenforceable in Singapore.
